National Ministries Spotlight: PF Singapore & PF Sri Lanka
'Gray hair is a crown of splendor; it is attained in the way of righteousness.' - Proverbs 16:31
As PF Singapore shares the struggles of those exiting the prisons being too old, lacking in family support, I can’t help but wonder what would be going through a prisoner’s mind, thinking that one’s life is simply… over. Too late to start afresh, too late to try dating and getting married, too late to start a career, too late to rebuild any broken relationships with the rest of family. In fact, too late to even try shaking off this convicting label.
Proverbs, however, brings us hope! It reminds us that there is a certain wisdom and splendour in being old. There is a crown that comes with old age, as long as we choose righteousness.
Perhaps this book of wisdom displays a profound truth, that it’s never really too late if we see our lives on earth as a fraction of the eternity that’s to come. Even those who have lost their way for a long time on earth, can seek righteousness even as they approach the final hurdles of their earthly time. What struggles they might face to return to the society and to their families would only bring hopelessness if they do not choose the way of the Lord.
The path to gray-ness is the path to greatness, if we choose it in Jesus Christ, if we choose Eternal Life.
