From 21–23 April 2026, Prison Fellowship International Asia Pacific welcomed over 100 delegates from across the region to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for the Asia Pacific Regional Forum 2026. Held at Alpha Hub Holy Trinity Bukit Bintang, the forum gathered representatives from 25 countries under the theme “Fresh Wind of Hope,” inspired by Isaiah 43:19:“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?”
The Regional Forum serves as a strategic platform for leaders of PFI’s Chartered Affiliates and ministry partners to strengthen relationships, share learning, and build organizational capacity for greater ministry effectiveness. This year’s gathering brought together delegates from 19 Chartered Affiliates, four Prospect Affiliates, and, notably, strong representation from the Pacific Islands, including Fiji, Tonga, Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea, and Vanuatu.
Equipping Leaders for Greater Impact
Throughout the three-day forum, participants engaged in sessions designed to strengthen leadership, enhance ministry effectiveness, and deepen understanding of emerging challenges and opportunities across the prison ministry landscape. Key sessions included updates on PFI’s global strategic direction, the introduction of the Centre of Excellence, regional prison trends and insights, rehabilitation pathways for drug-affected offenders, church engagement strategies, and the Framework for Change—a holistic model that guides sustainable ministry impact through faith, organizational capacity, learning, advocacy, and transformed lives.
Learning Beyond the Classroom
A highlight of the forum was the field visits to Rumah Victory Drug Rehabilitation Centre and Shalom Community Character Development Centre. These visits provided firsthand exposure to faith-based rehabilitation and reintegration initiatives, offering valuable insights into effective ministry models supporting former prisoners and individuals recovering from addiction.
Strengthened Unity Across the Region
One of the strongest themes emerging from participant reflections was the value of fellowship and connection. Delegates expressed encouragement from gathering with others who share a common calling, discovering that many ministries face similar challenges and opportunities despite operating in different contexts.
Themes such as
“One Shepherd, One Flock,” “Prayer precedes ministry,” and
“Together we can be strong and make an impact” resonated deeply throughout the forum. Participants left with a renewed sense of purpose, strengthened relationships, and greater alignment with PFI’s shared mission and vision.
As the forum concluded, delegates departed encouraged, spiritually refreshed, and equipped with practical ideas to strengthen their ministries. More importantly, they left with renewed confidence that they are part of a larger movement working together to bring hope, restoration, and transformation to individuals, families, and communities affected by crime and incarceration across the Asia Pacific region. The Asia Pacific Regional Forum 2026 served as a powerful reminder that when ministries come together to learn, pray, and collaborate, a fresh wind of hope can inspire lasting change.
