The Heart of the Latin America and Caribbean Forum

Having just returned from the Latin America and Caribbean Forum, I find myself both stirred and sobered. Sitting among leaders from across ministries and nations, two things became undeniably clear: we are stronger together than apart and we need each other more than ever.

This wasn’t just another event; it was a divine gathering point. The conversations, the presentations, the spontaneous moments of encouragement and exchange—everything pointed to a deeper need for interconnectedness. We cannot afford to operate in silos. There was significant experience and wisdom in the room, resources on the table and strength in the  stories of those willing to share them.

What struck me most was how often breakthroughs happened, not during formal sessions, but in the in-between moments when someone leaned over and said, “We went through that too,” or, “Here’s something that might help.” There was a sacred rhythm to it: testimony, transparency, tangible support.

Wilson Geong’s (Prison Fellowship International Vice President of Finance and Administration) closing message wrapped the forum in spiritual clarity. He didn’t just talk strategy. He called all to look inward and upward–to lead from a place of spiritual awareness. He quoted Luke 22:31: “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.” That scripture hit different in the room. It felt like a charge to every leader present.

We’ve all felt the sifting. But we are also the ones Jesus has prayed for. And now, it’s our turn—to go back and strengthen our brothers and sisters. If this forum highlighted anything, it’s that real leadership looks like stewardship, shared burdens, open hands and hearts anchored in Christ. The connectedness provided a haven for us to leave not just with notes, but with names—people we are committed to praying for and growing beside.

Let’s keep this momentum. Talk more. Share more. Connect more. The body needs every member working together.
