We are continuing on our journey to explore our holistic framework for understanding the cycle of crime.
Prevalence of crime does not necessarily equate to prisoner numbers. It is therefore useful to identify key drivers of prisoner numbers and see which part of the cycle is responsible for driving these. This also shows us that whilst prisoner numbers are a useful common denominator for our market penetration, we need to be careful how far we use it as a proxy for our impact.
Fun fact: The average length of prison sentence is probably the single most important factor in reducing or increasing prison population!
